About
The UK University Integration Bee is an inter-university team-based integration competitions, run across several universities in the UK and Singapore. In 2021, the participating universities were Cambridge, Imperial, Durham, Oxford and Warwick with Round 2 held at Cambridge. In 2022, St Andrews, Manchester, UCL and Bath have joined. The UK edition of the competition is sponsored by Jane Street. In 2023, the competition has become international with the National University of Singapore joining us - hosting their own version of the event in Singapore. In 2024, Surrey, LSE and KCL have joined in the UK and NTU in Singapore.
The competition is in two parts: Round 1 which is hosted at each university and Round 2 which used to be held in Cambridge but from 2024-25 onwards, will be held in Oxford.
In Round 1, there are 30 problems which you need to solve as a team of up to 3 in 2 hours. There are a range of past papers and other resources such as sample problems and a techniques guide to help prepare for the competition.
In Round 2, UK teams who did sufficiently well in Round 1 will be invited to Oxford to compete in a three part competition, featuring group, crossintegral and relay rounds - plans are still being made for Round 2 in Singapore.

If you want to take part in the competition, your university maths society will send an email with information before Round 1. If you would like your university to join, please contact us via email.
If you aren't from a participating university, you can join the discord server where Round 1 will be held online in mid to late December - this is open to anyone, including non university students.

Round 1 typically takes place in early November with the date depending on the university.
There will be 30 problems, covering a wide range of difficulty and integration techniques. There will be both definite integrals (where only the numerical answer matters) and indefinite integrals - most integrals will be definite.
To get a feel for the type of techniques that may be involved in the problems, the syllabus can be found here. The best way to practice is looking at problems from previous competitions, which you can find below. I particularly recommend the Sample Problems.
Round 2 in 2023 took place on Monday 6th February in the Centre for Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge. There were three separate rounds, Group, Crossnumber and Relay - information on these can be found below in the Resources section in the Previous Competitions link.
